Topic: Lean Manufacturing: Successes and Limitations
Speaker: Robert L. Edwards

A successful implementation of Lean Manufacturing must be tailored to fit the situation, and must be undertaken with total commitment. The most difficult part is the most basic part: getting all people involved to change their habits of thinking and working. This seminar comments on observations made in North Carolina plants. A list of technical and human relations guidelines will be provided.

Speaker's Bio:
Robert Edwards served as aa senior metalworking specialist, a technical services manager, and Director of the NC Manufacturing Extension Partnership of NCSU's Industrial Extension Service. A NC project engineer until 2003, Bob previously conducted engineering projects for the RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company, and managed the Briggs-Shaffner foundry. He retired from NCSU in 2000, and has consulted and taught seminars throughout the eastern U.S.
